Car and truck listing photo checklist
Your photographs should help a buyer understand the actual vehicle. Use recent images, include known wear, and organize the gallery like a walk around the car or truck.
A practical guide from Car Truck Buy Sell. The header image is illustrative; use current photos of your own vehicle in a listing.
Prepare the vehicle and location
Clean enough to show surfaces clearly, remove loose belongings and find an uncluttered place with even daylight. Leave room to step back without standing in traffic. Keep document addresses and personal information out of frame.
Cover all sides and details
Take front and rear three-quarter views, a straight-on view of each side, and clear shots of the front and rear. Include wheels and tires, lights, glass, panels and known damage.
For a pickup, add the bed, tailgate, hitch and any included cap or cover. For an SUV or van, show the cargo area and seat layout. Photograph the actual equipment rather than using a stock image.
Show the cabin and instruments
Photograph the front and rear seating areas, dashboard, controls and cargo space. Include a readable odometer image and show warning lights honestly. Add close views of worn upholstery or damaged trim rather than leaving buyers to discover it later.
Document equipment without overstating it
Show included keys, charging cables, removable seats, spare wheels or accessories. A picture of a tow hitch does not establish towing capacity; support specifications separately with the correct documentation.
Choose a cover and review the gallery
Use a clear, current three-quarter view as the cover. Order the remaining images from exterior to cabin, equipment and condition details. Remove duplicates and unrelated images, then check that every uploaded photograph opens at a useful size.
Use your own unaltered condition photos for the listing. The illustrative header on this guide is brand imagery, not a seller listing or a condition example.
